South Dakota Adopts Wind Turbine Setbacks Similar To Cape Cod Commission
Testimony and cross examinations around the world show wind turbines generate several types of noise know since Boone, North Carolina 1987

Lincoln County, South Dakota ordinance passed last month requires turbines to be at least a half mile, 2640 feet, from homes unless the energy company receives a waiver from the neighboring landowner.

Minimum Performance Standard E1.8 “Noise – All Applicants for a WECF [wind energy conversion facility] greater than 660 KW shall perform a noise study and fund a Cape Cod Commission approved consultant’s review of the noise study, and adhere to a setback of 10 times rotor diameter of the proposed turbine from the nearest receptor, or residentially zoned parcel.
