Thanksgiving Football: Falmouth Host Barnstable

The Falmouth Clippers will continue their 124-year-old rivalry when they faceoff against the Barnstable Red Raiders on Thanksgiving.

FALMOUTH, MA — The Clippers are set to hit the gridiron at home against the Barnstable Red Raiders on Thanksgiving, a tradition that started in 1895. The annual Barnstable-Falmouth football game is the state's fifth oldest rivalry.

Over the last 124 years, the two teams have played each other 133 times, and 92 of those games have been on Thanksgiving. The 93rd game will see the 4-8 Clippers inch closer to evening out the annual Turkey Day rivalry against the 6-4 Red Raiders. Over the years, Barnstable has the better head-to-head record going 45-43-4 on Thanksgiving, but Falmouth has the advantage for the entire rivalry, going 63-62-8 against Falmouth since 1895.

The game starts at 10 a.m. at Falmouth High School.
