Toys For Tots In Full Swing In Falmouth: Dates To Know

FALMOUTH, MA — While you’re checking off holiday gifts for family members, don’t forget the kids who aren’t on anyone’s shopping list and pick up some items for the Toys for Tots campaign in Falmouth.

Sponsored by the Marine Corps Reserves, Toys for Tots is organized locally on Cape Cod by Toys for Tots Coordinator Timothy Harrington.

Last year on Cape Cod, 58,236 toys were distributed to 28,301 children who might not otherwise have gotten any Christmas gifts. Nationally, about 625 million toys were handed out to 291 million kids.

Besides dropping off new, unwrapped toys at several drop-off locations, people who want to support the campaign can also donate online. Here’s what you need to know on the Cape:

The deadline to donate to the cause is Dec. 15, unless otherwise noted. Here are some locations in Falmouth:

• Crane Appliance, 249 Teaticket Hwy., East Falmouth, Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• The Black Dog, 214 Main St., Falmouth, contact for hours, deadline Dec. 2
• Falmouth Police Department, 750 Main St., 24 hours
• Falmouth Recreation Department, 790 Main St., 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Kinlin Grover Compass, 56 Scranton Ave., Falmouth, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Mid-Cape Home Centers, 81 Locust St., Falmouth, 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday
• Windfall Market, 77 Scranton Ave., Falmouth, Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is an IRS-recognized nonprofit public charity created in 1991. The foundation, created in 1991, uses 97 percent of every donation to buy toys for children in need.
