Truck Crashes Into Utility Pole, Sparking Fire In Falmouth

The driver was evaluated for injuries at the scene but refused treatment after his truck struck a utility pole on West Falmouth Highway.

FALMOUTH, MA — A pickup truck struck a utility pole on West Falmouth Highway on Tuesday, causing a road closure and fire in the area.

At approx. 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, the truck hit the pole near 825 West Falmouth Highway. The tuck caught fire and caused extensive damage to the pole, leaving fire conditions unsafe to manage until Eversource officials arrived on the scene to confirm "power was secured," officials said.

The driver was evaluated for injuries at the scene but refused treatment and was released from the scene.

Fire personnel eventually extinguished the fire and the damage was confined to the vehicle, pole and utility cables, officials said.
