Trundy's Return Leads to Shakeup in Commodores Management

A conflict arose when the team's general manager attempted to replace the longtime head coach.

According to a recent report in The Enterprise, the Cape Cod Baeball League's Falmouth Commodores will be bringing back longtime head coach Jeff Trundy next season, and will be losing the team president, general manager, and secretary. All three officials resigned after the team's board of directors voted to return Trundy to the helm.

According to the story, General Manager Robert P. Clark had previously decided to release Trundy, in favor of new head coach Dan Donato. The board's reversal of his decision reportedly led Clark and the two other officials (including his wife, Christine Clark, who served as the team's president) to resign.

The Enterprise states that the conflict may stem from the team's bylaws, which offer contradictory rules for appointing coaches, at one point that authority to the general manager, at another carving out a seemingly overlapping role for the board of directors.
