U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Looking for New Members

Are you new to the area and looking for volunteer opportunities? Are you a veteran and looking for the camaraderie you had while serving the nation? Are you a recreational boater who wants to apply your skills to teach safe boating classes or conduct on-the-water missions supporting the U.S. Coast Guard? Do you like to cook and want to provide much needed culinary support to active-duty "Coasties"? The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is looking for volunteers to fill roles in theses and many other mission areas.

Since 1939 the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary has safeguarded our Nation’s maritime interests in the heartland, in the ports, at sea, and around the globe. Members from all walks of life bring their training and experience as a member of the civilian, uniformed, all-volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard.

The "Auxiliary's" main goal is recreational boating safety and education, while acting as a force multiplier in support of many other Coast Guard authorized missions, with the exception of direct law enforcement and military missions.

Today’s U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, with nearly 22,000 volunteers, is a unique force that carries out an array of responsibilities touching almost every facet of the U.S. maritime environment.

The Coast Guard’s motto is Semper Paratus, meaning "Always Ready". The overarching mission of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is to contribute to the safety and security of our neighbors, ports, waterways and coastal regions. We will balance our missions of Recreational Boating Safety and Coast Guard Support with Maritime Homeland Security and other challenges that emerge as a result of our growing understanding of changes required in the post-9/11 era.

• There is no minimum time commitment involved. Members of the Auxiliary dedicate the amount of time and effort that meets their schedules.
• You don't have to be a boater to join. We have many mission areas that do not require boating skills.
• If you want to gain boating skills, the Auxiliary is well prepared to provide the training and support needed to become a boat crew member, teach safe boating courses, conduct courtesy vessel safety checks and gain a qualification as a aids-to-navigation verifier.

The Woods Hole Flotilla works directly with small boat Station Woods Hole, the Woods Hole Aids-To-Navigation Team, Air Station Cape Cod and Sector Southeastern New England.
