Unresponsive Boy Pulled From Sandwich Pond Hospitalized: Police

The 5-year-old was transported to Falmouth Hospital for treatment on Sunday.

SANDWICH, MA — A 5-year-old boy was found unresponsive at a Forestdale Pond on Sunday, Sandwich police said.

The boy was transported to Falmouth Hospital for treatment, but no update on his condition has come since Sunday at 9:24 p.m.

Police were called to the scene at 7 p.m. after the boy was reported missing at Snake Pond Beach in Forestdale. Police were updated moments later that the boy was found underwater, and unresponsive.

Fire and police officials arrived at the pond while bystanders performed CPR, police said. Officers and paramedics provided aid to the boy, who was at the beach with a parent, before an ambulance took him to Falmouth Hospital.

An investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police and Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office. Foul play isn't suspected, police said.
