Weekend Crash On Cape Cod Knocks Out Power, Closes Rt. 6A In Orleans

The intersection of Rt. 6A and Bakers Pond Road was closed on Sunday, and Eversource was called to the scene to restore power.

ORLEANS, MA — A weekend crash caused power outages, downed power lines and closed a portion of Route 6A for most of the day on Sunday.

The intersection at Route 6A and Bakers Pond Road was completely shut down to through traffic due to an overnight crash, with that closure lasting for hours.

Vehicles coming from Brewster were unable to get to Orleans and Route 6 on-ramps via Route 6A were closed.

Kevin Higgins, a former Orleans Police Lieutenant and current reserve officer, posted updates to Facebook throughout Monday. He shared that Eversource and Verizon officials were on the scene to deal with power outages and downed lines.

Making matters worse was the weather, which featured snow and freezing rain conditions.
