BOURNE, MA — Whitey Bulger's longtime girlfriend Catherine Greig returned to Massachusetts Wednesday. Greig, who served part of her prison sentence at Federal Correctional Institution-Waseca in Minnesota, arrived at Logan Airport on a JetBlue flight Wednesday morning, according to The Boston Globe.

Greig will stay at a halfway house in Barnstable County and electronically monitored in Bourne, the Boston Herald reported earlier this month.

Greig and Bulger were caught in Santa Monica, California, in 2011 after 16 years on the run. She pleaded guilty to identity fraud and harboring a fugitive in 2012, and pleaded guilty to criminal contempt four years later after refusing to cooperate in the case against Bulger.

Greig's sister told the Globe it's "wonderful" that she's home.

Bulger, an FBI informant and longtime boss of the Winter Hill Gang, was one of America's most wanted criminals when he went on the lam in the '90s. The 89-year-old was serving life sentences for 11 murders and a slew of other charges when he was beaten to death in his cell in a West Virginia prison last fall.

Greig, 68, is scheduled to be released Sept. 29, 2020. She is eligible for the Elderly Offenders Home Detention Program and plans to live in Quincy when she released, according to the Herald.
