Work By Sue Beardsley On View At Art Center

Sue Beardsley is perhaps Falmouth’s best-known sculptor, as her whimsical creatures made of found objects can be seen on front yards throughout town. After a two-year hiatus, Ms. Beardsley is back for an exhibit at the Falmouth Art Center, where a couple of her creations, including a bright red lobster, can be seen on the art center’s grounds year-round.

Ms. Beardsley’s show, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun!” is in the Sigel Gallery at the Falmouth Art Center from September 1 to 30.

Featured in the show will be Ms. Beardsley’s unusual and imaginative creations using a variety of mediums, from found object sculptures to paintings to mosaics.

Mixed media, to Ms. Beardsley, can mean any number of materials including fiber, beads, coral, copper, glass, wood, shells, yarn, metal, feathers, wire, thread and more. While animals are a frequent subject, she also constructs figures and other subjects.

A sense of humor is often the common denominator in her work.

The Falmouth Art Center is at 137 Gifford Street. The center is free and open to the public Mondays to Fridays from 9 AM to 4 PM, Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM and Sundays from 1 to 4 PM.
