YMCA Buys Land For New Location In Falmouth
The new YMCA is expected to have swimming programs for all ages, a fitness center and plenty of other programs and features.
FALMOUTH, MA — YMCA Cape Cod has purchased 7.1 acres of land from the Christ Lutheran Church in Falmouth for $550,000 to build a new YMCA. Organization management said the site at 485 Brick Kiln Road was chosen because its easy for upper Cape residents to get to, is close to Falmouth High School and has plenty of space for parking and outdoor activities.
The new YMCA is expected to have swimming programs for all ages, a fitness center and plenty of other programs and features. YMCA management and Falmouth Aquatics, a group that's been working to bring a pool to the upper Cape, partnered together last year to make the project possible with studies, fundraising, community outreach and site logistics.
"We are thrilled to share this news of an ideal site and look forward to sharing more detailed design plans and launching a capital campaign with key community leaders," YMCA Cape Cod CEO Stacie Peugh said in a statement. "I look forward to the coming years of bringing a Y facility to Falmouth and having Christ Lutheran Church as our closest neighbor and partner in service to the community. We have lots of work to do to make it happen. We have many talented and dedicated volunteers in the Upper Cape area who want to bring this Y into Falmouth and will work tirelessly to make it happen."
