Boston Comic Con 2015 Featuring Industry Icon Stan Lee, A-List Celebrities, and Comic Book Creators is Tremendous Success
Boston's eighth annual comic con considered among the top comic conventions in the U.S.

Boston Comic Con 2015 was a resounding success and broke all attendance records and is now considered among the top comic conventions in the U.S. The three-day convention, held July 31 – August 2 at the Seaport World Trade Center, welcomed 40,000 visitors for the comic convention that featured celebrity appearances, photo and autograph opportunities, panel discussions, 300+ comic artists, 300+ vendors, opening kickoff party with “Drink and Draw,” Cosplay Harbor Cruise, After Party at Laugh Boston, Comic Con Film Festival, an Art Auction to benefit the Mike Wieringo Scholarship Fund and The Norman Lee Foundation, and the annual Cosplay Costume Contest.
“This year’s comic con is one for the books, drawing 40,000 visitors, a huge leap from last year’s 32,000,” said co-founder of Boston Comic Con, Nick Kanieff. “We are so honored, and proud, to work with such talented, inspiring creators, and especially thank Mr. Lee, Mayor Walsh, and all of the celebrities, for their support, and for making this year the most successful yet!”
The highlight of Boston Comic Con 2015 was the appearance of comic industry icon and living legend Stan Lee, 92, whose co creation of superheroes including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Daredevil, The Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic four and Silver Surfer ushered in the Marvel Age of Comics. Mayor Marty Walsh was also present at the convention, proclaiming Saturday August 1st as “Stan Lee Day” in Boston. Lee continues to appear in virtually every film, cartoon and television show that Marvel produces.

The weekend was filled with fans, artists, and writers who gathered together to take part in Boston Comic Con’s various festivities and to celebrate the comic and creative communities. Attendees enjoyed photo-ops, autograph signings, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions with celebrities such as Manu Bennett of the hit TV series “Arrow,” Billie Piper of “Doctor Who,” Hayley Atwell of Marvel’s “Agent Carter,” Brett Dalton of Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Robin Lord Taylor of the hit television show “Gotham,” Elvira, the one and only Mistress of the Dark, and many more. The art auction doubled its proceeds compared to 2014 and the Cosplay Costume Contest also had record attendance with 2,000 entrants.
