Chris Sale Admitted To Hospital With Stomach Illness, Red Sox Say
The Red Sox announced during Sunday night's game that their ace will be kept overnight for evaluation.
BOSTON, MA — Red Sox ace Chris Sale was admitted to the hospital Sunday with what the team said was a stomach illness. The team said he is being kept overnight for evaluation, and that it will provide updates when available.
Sale would likely be scheduled to pitch at least one more time in the American League Championship Series.
The lefthander was noticeably off in Saturday night's Game 1 loss against Houston Saturday. He lasted 4 innings, giving up 2 runs. Sale's fastball average was significantly lower than usual.
