Julien Kasper Band / Fernando Huergo Quintet

Monday / October 5, 2015 / 8:00 p.m. Berklee Performance Center 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA 02115

A professor in the Guitar Department, Julien Kasper’s personal, original music is an amalgam of jazz, rock, and blues in equal measure, played with virtuosity, dynamics, and tonal nuance. He has performed extensively across the United States and Europe, and released three acclaimed CDs of all-original instrumental music. Guitar Player Magazine described Trance Groove, his most recent release, this way: “Exquisite tones, masterful execution, and innate soulfulness drive this jazzy, funky, bluesy, Sco-and-Beck-meet-Hendrix-for-drinks-at-the-Harvard-Psychedelic-Club instrumental joyride.”

Fernando Huergo, a professor in the Bass Department, is a highly skilled bassist who is known all over the world. His quintet plays original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards, incorporating Argentinean folkloric styles, jazz harmonies, and improvisation.
