Toto la Momposina

Thursday / November 5, 2015 / 8:00 p.m. Berklee Performance Center 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA 02115

Totó la Momposina’s entire life has been dedicated to representing the music of Colombia’s Caribbean coastline. As a singer, dancer, and teacher, she embodies the fertile place where Colombia’s African, indigenous Indian, and Spanish cultures mingle to create a unique musical tradition.

For this show, Totó will perform her songbook with a large student ensemble, playing arrangements by students studying contemporary writing and production and specially chosen by Totó for the occasion. The concert will be produced by Grammy-winning bassist Oscar Stagnaro and directed by Matthew Nicholl, chair of the Contemporary Writing and Production Department and executive director of the Mediterranean Music Institute.
