FOXBOROUGH, MA — Founders Day has come a long way since starting as a gathering on Foxborough Common 31 years ago. Who would have thought back in the late 1980s that the day would turn into a celebration with a parade, field day, fireworks and more? On Saturday, Foxborough's biggest annual community party is back.

Since its earliest roots, Foxborough's biggest community party has always had a fun theme to rally around. Last year was the event’s 30th birthday and organizers celebrated the town’s history. This year, the committee is asking residents what Foxborough means to them.

To answer this question, attendees are encouraged to fill out a postcard the day of the event at the Founders Day booth. The postcards will be put on display.

Wagon and Doll Carriage Parade

A long, withstanding staple of Founders Day — the annual wagon and doll carriage parade starts at 9:40 a.m., and lets children ages 3-9 show off their creative side to the entire community. Prize ribbons will be awarded for most creative, most original and best decorated related to this year’s theme. Every participant will receive a ribbon

Pre-registration is encouraged at Memorial Hall, but if you can’t register beforehand you can still do so at 9:15 a.m. To pre-register, email or call the parade’s chair, Krystn Gustafson at Krystn.gustafson@gmail.com or 508-838-4898.

Scavenger Hunt

As usual, the scavenger hunt is back to give the kids a little adventure. This year, Founders Day will be holding a scavenger hunt from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Maps will go on sale for $2 each at the Founders Day booth. Participants will use the map to collect stickers, then return the map to the Founders Day booth to pick up a prize. All entrants who turn in their map will also be entered into a drawing for a Patriots Place Prize Package. Three drawings will be held—one for each age group (Ages 3-6, 7-11 and 12 and up).

Shuttle buses are back after last year's popular introduction for Founders Day transportation. Shuttles begin running around town from 8:30 a.m. until after the parade. Shuttles will begin again immediately after the fireworks. The shuttle will stop at the following locations:

  • 132 Central St. (This is where shuttle service begins. After it stops at Foxborough High School, it will immediately loop back around to 132 Central St.)
