Aaron Hernandez Included In Super Bowl In Memoriam
The man who died in a jail cell while serving a life sentence for murder was somehow remembered during a Super Bowl pregame video.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The NFL's pre-Super Bowl tribute to former players who died during 2017 included a certain former New England Patriot who was on trial for murder on two occasions.
Aaron Hernandez was among the players listed during a rollcall of players who passed away last year. The in memoriam tribute did not air on television and was shown only in U.S. Bank Stadium.
Here's how Mike Tanier and Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report saw the moment:

To clarify, the Aaron Hernandez moment during the rollcall of players who passed away in 2017 was on a slide with a half-dozen relative unknowns which flashed almost too fast to read.

Hernandez hanged himself days after he was found not guilty of a 2012 double murder in South Boston. He was serving a life sentence for the murder of Odin Lloyd, but that conviction was dropped due to a state law which allows convictions to be erased if the charged person dies before the appeals process is completed.
