Ace Archers JOAD Attended USA Archery National Indoors

Ace Arches JOAD, a local archery club, attended the USA Archery National Indoors Tournament at Fiskdale, MA.

22 member of Ace Archers JOAD, a USA Archery Competitive Archery Club for youth and adults, attend the USA Archery Indoor Nationals at Tantasqua High School in Fiskdale, MA over the weekend of 2/24 to 2/26. Seven of the members earned local medals during the tournament. The members are:

  • Catherine Botsford-Milne (Foxboro,MA) Women's Masters 50 Recurve 3rd Place
  • AJ Chamberlain (Woonsocket, RI) Women's Senior Longbow 1st Place
  • Jacques Cote (Milford, MA) Mens Masters 60 Recurve 3rd Place
  • Carl Gladstone (Sharon, MA) Mens Masters 50 Recurve 3rd Place
  • Kim Guilbert (Boston, MA) Mens Masters 60 Recurve 1st Place
  • Joan Pooley (Norwood, MA) Women's Masters 50 Barebow 1st Place
  • Xuemei Zhong (Jamaica Plains, MA) Women's Senior Barebow 3rd Place

The USA Archery Indoor Nationals is a venue based tournament that is held at 13 locations across the county. This year tournament is held over a 4 week period from 2/17 to 3/10. The archers shoot 18 meters, about 20 yards, with the older youths, 14 years old and older, and adults aiming at a 40 cm, about 15 3/4 inches across, target with the bullseye 4 cm, about 1.5 inches, across. The younger archers, younger than 14 years old, shoot at a 60 cm, about 23 1/2 inches, target with a bullseye 6 cm, about 2 1/3 inches across. They shoot 60 arrows over two days. The national medals will be awarded after the last venue has finished and the national results are tabulated.

As of right now, AJ Chamberlain is positioned for 1st Place Nationally with two more athletes in her division; the other athletes are not as strong a competitor are Ms. Chamberlain and she should be awarded National 1st Place Honors within a few weeks.
