DEDHAM, MA — Former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs was found not guilty on the charges of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery in Dedham District Court Tuesday, according to a report from ESPN.

The seven-person jury came to a verdict after approximately 90 minutes of deliberation. The two-day trial centered around Diggs’ accuser Jamila Adams, testifying about the event that she claimed took place on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025.

Defense attorneys pressed Adams about money she said she was owed after working as a live-in chef for the NFL star. She testified that she was paid about $2,000 a week and that she believed she had not been fully compensated after being sent home. They pointed to a $19,000 demand and said the amount increased over time, with her attorney later seeking $5.5 million.

Adams was unable to give direct answers when asked about whether her representation did, in fact, make the $5.5 million demand. Portions of her responses were struck from the record as nonresponsive.

“Was Ms. Adams a perfect witness? No. She was argumentative, avoidant, difficult,” Prosecutor Drew Virtue said during the trial’s closing arguments. “But that does that mean you should throw away everything she said? No.”

A video of Adams appearing jovial and dancing that reportedly took place not long after the alleged incident was also used as evidence by the defense.

Diggs, who did not testify, appeared emotional as the verdict was read Tuesday afternoon. After the trial concluded, his attorney said that his client was targeted as a wealthy professional athlete.
