FOXBOROUGH, MA — A 2026 draft selection of the New England Patriots was arraigned in Newton District Court Wednesday on domestic violence charges, according to a report from WCVB NewsCenter 5.

Quintayvious Hutchins pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault and battery on a family/household member stemming from a supposed incident that took place Tuesday evening on Boston College’s campus, where the rookie played football collegiately. Officers from the college’s police department responded to Voute Hall just before 8 p.m. after receiving a report of two people fighting in the hallway of the dormitory. A resident advisor said she witnessed an altercation between Hutchins and a woman in which the two pushed each other and Hutchins grabbed the woman by the neck. The witness also said Hutchins accused the woman of cheating on him.

The woman denied that anything serious took place when police arrived, and Hutchins said in a written statement that he came to the campus from Foxborough to bring food to the woman, but that she was “ungrateful.”

The Patriots have since released a statement regarding the situation.

“We are aware of the report involving Quintayvious Hutchins. We take these matters very seriously and are in the process of gathering additional information. We will not have further comments at this time.”

The 23-year-old was drafted in the seventh round by New England last month, as the team used the 247th overall pick to take the Alabama native. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound defensive edge rusher played in 43 games for the Eagles and finished with 72 total tackles, five and a half sacks, one interception, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. According to the team, Hutchins had just signed his rookie contract last week.

Hutchins was released on his own personal recognizance after arraignment.
