Arts Celebrated At Foxborough Street Painting Festival at Patriot Place

The third annual Foxborough Street Painting Festival attracted more than 96 artists from 17 towns.

From Patriot Place:

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The third annual Foxborough Street Painting Festival at Patriot Place attracted more than 96 artists from 17 towns to celebrate the arts and community through a day of family fun and free activities on Saturday, May 20.

Artists of all ages showcased their creative works by painting 48 cement squares scattered throughout Patriot Place’s North Marketplace. The Patriot Place festival, in partnership with the Foxborough Public Schools Art Department and Foxboro Dental Associates, raised $500 through the sales of People’s Choice tickets and merchandise (t-shirts and buttons). The money will go to an art scholarship for one Foxborough High School senior who will be attending a four-year art college next year.

“Every year, we are blown away by the quality of artwork and this year’s 48 painted squares were no exception,” said Foxborough’s K-12 Art Department Head Kelly Arcacha. “The artists’ interpretations of the 2017 theme, ‘Through the Window,’ were shining examples of the power art has to tell stories, cross borders and bring us to new places.”

The festival continues to grow in popularity and success, as the 48 squares were the most ever painted in the three years of the event.

“Having started as the dream of creating a community art celebration in Foxborough, it’s amazing to be in our third year of the Foxborough Street Painting Festival,” Arcacha said. “We love seeing the artists that return each year and all the artists from our neighboring towns participate. It is so neat to see the patrons of Patriot Place stop to talk with the artists and admire their work. None of this would be possible without our sponsors and volunteers each year.”
