Attleboro Couple Accused of Foxboro Burglaries Indicted

An Attleboro couple believed to be responsible for a string of housebreaks in Foxborough and Norfolk this spring have been indicted by a Norfolk County Grand jury according to a press release from Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey.

Rachel Burns and Peter Genettis, both 27 and residents of Commonwealth Ave in Attleboro, were each indicted for six counts of Breaking and Entering in the Daytime to commit a Felony and five Counts of Larceny of Property valued at more than $250. Genettis was also indicted on a count of Possession of Burglarious Tools, Morrissey said.

The indictments allege five housebreaks in Foxborough and one in Norfolk, with Burns acting as the driver and Genettis entering homes looking for jewelry.

“This is a good example of law enforcement agencies working together,” Morrissey said. “Norfolk Police responded to a house alarm not far from the state prison property. Very shortly, a Corrections Officer at the prison spotted a man, later identified as Genettis, traversing the property carrying a backpack, then heading into some woods.”

Burns was indicted as co-venturer after evidence emerged that she would knock at the door of residences being targeted to see if the home was empty; she would claim to be looking for her lost dog,“Daisy” if the door was answered, and inform Genettis if there was no answer.

“Foxborough then worked with Norfolk to investigate whether this pair was linked to other recent housebreaks where similar items were taken,” Morrissey said.“The good work of these police departments developed enough evidence to bring charges in several more cases. Now we move this matter to the Superior Court.”

No Superior Court arraignment date has yet been set, District Attorney Morrissey said, but he expects it to occur in the coming weeks. Bail on Burns was set at $1,100 and Genettis was set at $1,000 after the pair pled not guilty May 21 at their Wrentham District Court arraignment
