Attleboro, MA business owner Kim Ashworth qualifies for Ironman World Championship
Ashworth Awards Vice President and CMO qualified for the 2016 Ironman 70.3 World Championship set to take place in Queensland Australia.
Ashworth Awards proudly announces that their Vice President/CMO, Kim Ashworth, recently qualified for the 2016 Ironman 70.3 World Championship at the Sunshine Coast in Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia at the Ironman Timberman 70.3 in Gilford, NH.
It was a challenging day of swimming, biking and running 70.3 miles in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. It began with a 1.2 mile swim in Lake Winnipesaukee, followed by a 56 mile bike ride in and around the Belknap Mountain Range, and ended with a 13.1 mile run along the lakefront. The terrain and weather made this no easy feat for the athletes on race day. The temperatures and humidity rose overnight after extreme thunderstorms came across the state. Kim placed 3rd in her age group and nabbed a slot to compete next September against the some of the best age group athletes in the World.

Queensland’s Sunshine Coast will host the first IRONMAN World Championship held in the Southern Hemisphere. The IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship will be staged in Mooloolaba in September, 2016.
The world championship is the pinnacle event in the global IRONMAN 70.3 calendar and will further strengthen an outstanding triathlon event portfolio in Queensland. The announcement is the result of a partnership between the Queensland Government, Sunshine Coast Council and IRONMAN.
The Sunshine Coast and Queensland region is regarded as one of the world’s leading triathlon centers, with the hosting of the annual IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast, the iconic Mooloolaba and Noosa Triathlon Festivals and prior hosting of International Triathlon Union (ITU) series and championship events.

The South East Queensland region plays home to current IRONMAN 70.3 world champion Melissa Hauschildt, IRONMAN 70.3 Asia Pacific champion and Olympic gold medalist Jan Frodeno, IRONMAN world champion Pete Jacobs and IRONMAN World Championship medalist Caroline Steffen, among others.
