Is Belichick's Patriots Fate Already Decided? NFL Insider Says Yes

NBC Sports Boston's Tom Curran said a win over Pittsburgh won't be enough to save Bill Belichick's job in New England.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Bill Belichick is getting another round of questions about his long-term job status with the Patriots this week and, as expected, the coach is rather mum on the matter.

"I'm getting ready for Kansas City," Belichick repeated over and over again when asked about his job status during a Wednesday media session.

The game this weekend is emblematic of the Patriot's season as a whole, as, in any other year under Belichick, the marque Monday night matchup would have been a picture perfect scenario for the NFL.

Instead, the team has performed so poorly that it's likely the reason the NFL flexed the game out of the Monday night slot and into a Sunday afternoon kickoff.

This round of questioning doesn't really differ from earlier this season, but it does follow a rare Patriots victory in 2023.

Still, NBC Sports Boston's Tom Curran said the recent win over Pittsburgh likely won't be enough to save Belichick's job.

Curran gave an interview to the Arbella Early Edition on Monday, and said the decision to move on from Belichick has already been made by team owner Robert Kraft, and no result over the rest of the year will be enough to make him waver on that decision.

Still, it's unlikely the team will move on from Belichick during the season.

"They were going to play out the string, and at the end of the year, there would be a parting of the ways for a variety of reasons," Curran said.

It's been reported that Belichick has additional years left on his contract, and rumors about a potential trade have added intrigue toward his next move.

Much is left to be determined about the team's next move, and if its legendary head coach will don a headset for another team in the future.
