Beloved Foxborough Substitute Teacher Gabe Trost Passes Away
A funeral services will be held Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel in Canton.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — A longtime substitute teacher at Foxborough High School has died.
Gabe Trost, who spent nearly two decades filling in for teachers at the high school, passed away Sunday at the age of 92.

Originally from Poland, Trost fled his home country 1936, escaping the eventual Nazi invasion of the country. After high school, Trost was drafted into the U.S. Army but a medical condition kept him from seeing combat and he served as a medic during World War 2.

In the classroom, Trost was known for his trivia, free candy, and prizes often deceptively made larger by his wrapping.
A funeral services will be held Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington St., Canton. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will sit shiva at the home of his granddaughter and her husband, Jessica and Jonathan Loiacono, following interment.
