Brady on Scissors Incident: 'Just a Silly Accident'
Tom Brady confirmed Tuesday that he was sent home prior to Thursday's game against the Bears.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — After five days of silence and few answers, Tom Brady broke his silence on Thursday's scissors incident.
During Tuesday's media availability, Brady confirmed earlier reports that he sat out Thursday's preseason game against the Chicago Bears because he sliced his right thumb was trying to get something out of his shoe with scissors, referring to the act as a silly accident.
"I let out probably a pretty loud word I wouldn’t repeat in front of my kids. I couldn’t believe it; I just went and got checked out. It was just a silly accident," Brady told reporters at Gillette Stadium.

Following the accident, Brady was sent home by coach Bill Belichick, he said.
The press conference was the first real insight into what happened from a Patriots official. Belichick said he made the decision to sit Brady play when he was asked about it after Thursday's game and refused comment earlier this week.

Brady's appearance was the first in Foxborough since the Bears game.
No word on if the Patriots quarterback will play this week against the Carolina Panthers but he says he'll be ready to go if his number is called. Brady has yet to play a down of preseason football this year.
