Burrell School Project Moves to Next Phase

The MSBA has moved the project to the feasibility study phase.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The Burrell Elementary School has the blessing of the Massachusetts School Building Authority to move on to the next phase of the renovation process.

Monday, Superintendent Debra Spinelli told the School Committee that the MSBA moved the project to the feasibility study phase during their Nov. 9 meeting.

“We are moving along at the pace we hoped for,” Spinelli said.

Business Manager Bill Yukna said the project is moving faster than most projects, noting that the first phase usually takes 270 days but the Burrell School project needed less than 200.

“We have issues there so we’re very concerned with how much time we have to move this project forward. We don’t want to delay this,” Yukna said.

In the spring, Town Meeting approved $700,000 for a feasibility study that will be conducted with the MSBA. The next step is to hire an Owner's Project Manager. The committee voted to approve a request for service following the update.

Next, the school building committee for the project will evaluate the applicants, shortlist three to five finalists, conduct interviews, and pick one to be the project manager.
