Challengers Emerge in Selectmen, School Committee Races

The selectmen and school committee races could be contested.

FOXBOROUGH, MA - Potential challenges have emerged in this spring's town election.

Selectman John Gray has returned his nomination papers according to Town Clerk Bob Cutler. Two other residents Robert Pialie and Steven Sloan have also pulled papers but have no returned them. There are two seats on the board up for grabs. Gray is going for his second term on the board while Chairman Jim DeVellis, whose term ends this year, will not campaign for a third term.

In the school committee race, newcomer Christopher Connolly has returned papers, as has current committee member Marilyn Weiss. Former school committee member Martha Slattery has pulled, but no returned papers. Like the selectmen, there are two spots on the ballot. Weiss, who won a special election last year to fill the seat vacated by Katie Adair, is looking for her first full term. Stephen Udden recently announced that he will not seek reelection.
