Completed Foreclosures Decrease in Foxborough For June

Newly started foreclosures fell in June in Foxborough, along with completed foreclosures, according to data released this week.

The data, compiled by real estate information firm The Warren Group, showed a decline in foreclosure petitions (which represent new foreclosures) from three last year to two in June. Foreclosure deeds — or completed foreclosures — fell from three to one.

Statewide, deeds fell by more than 29 percent (from 1,315 in June 2010 to 931 in June 2011), and petitions dropped by 55 percent (2,220 to 990).

Timothy Warren, the group's CEO, said a backlog may be keeping the numbers down.

"The steep decline in yearly foreclosure activity shows there is still a glut of foreclosed properties on the banks' books," he said in a statement. "A housing market recovery won't be complete until these foreclosures work through the system."

Here are the foreclosure statistics for area towns:

• Dover's had no foreclosure petitions or deeds filed in either June 2010 or June 2011.
• Easton's June foreclosure petitions fell from seven to three, while deeds remained steady at two.
• Foxborough saw its June foreclosure petitions fall from three to two, and its deeds from three to one.
• In Mansfield, foreclosure petitions dropped from four to three, while deeds remained steady at two.
• Medfield's foreclosure petitions fell from two last year to zero in June, and no deeds were filed in either last June or June 2011.
• Norfolk had its foreclosure petitions drop from three to zero, and deeds fell from one to zero.
• Norton foreclosure petitions increased slightly, from four to five, and its deeds went up sharply, from one to four.
• Norwood had its foreclosure petitions fall by 50 percent, from eight to four, and its deeds decline from four to three.
• Plainville saw its foreclosure petitions and deeds both increase from zero to two.
• Sharon's foreclosure petitions remained steady at three year-over-year, while no deeds were filed in either month.
• Stoughton's June foreclosure petitions fell from 10 to five, while deeds were steady at three.
