Danny Amendola Leaving New England: Report

Amendola is expected to leave Foxborough for South Florida.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola is expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins when free agency starts Wednesday, according to a report.

Amendola leaves New England after five seasons with the Patriots. Despite a shaky start to his time in New England, he became known for his clutch playoff performances from the past three seasons including the 2014 division round game against the Baltimore Ravens and 2017 AFC Championship game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

During his time with the Patriots, Amendola caught 230 receptions for 2,383 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Pete Schrager of FOX Sports reports that Amendola will sign a 2-year, $12 million deal. Amendola reconstructed his New England contract the past three seasons, taking pay cuts an ending his last contract with a maximum compensation of $1.7 million.

The New England wide receiver group is down to Julian Edelman and Malcolm Mitchell, who both sat out last season with injuries, Brandin Cooks, Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, and Kenny Britt.
