Date Set for Aaron Hernandez Double Murder Trial

The former New England Patriot is accused of killing two people in a 2012 South End incident.

Aaron Hernandez will go to trial to face his second set of murder charges next year.

Feb. 13, 2017 was set as the start date Tuesday for the double murder trial. Hernandez is accused of murdering Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado in Boston’s South End in 2012, and a non-fatal shooting that took place seven months later.

The former New England Patriots tight end will be represented by Attorney Jose Baez, who is best known for defending Casey Anthony.

Hernandez is currently serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd. His legal team is due back in court for the double murder case on Oct. 5 for a status report.
