Foxborough Girls' Basketball Wins D2 State Title
The Foxborough Warriors beat the Hopkinton Hillers 49-41 Saturday in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD, MA — After the last two games, let it be known that Foxborough High School girls' basketball is anything but a boring affair.
The Warriors overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to beat the Hopkinton Hillers and win the MIAA Division 2 title 49-41. The win gives Foxborough their first basketball title since 1995.
While a smaller hole to crawl out of than Wednesday's 20 points against Pentucket, the Warriors used a similar plan of defensive shifts and outside shots to conduct the come back. Foxborough opened the second half with a 9-0 run and held Hopkinton to only four points in the third and only 14 points in the entire second half.

Around midway through the fourth, Foxborough took their first lead since 2-0, pulling ahead 38-37 on a Lily Sykes layup. The Warriors refused to surrender the lead for the rest of the game, icing the result at the free throw line.
Foxborough's Ashley Sampson and Hopkinton's Ivy Gogolin both had a game-high 15 points.
