Former Patriots Player Brandon Spikes Pleads Guilty to Hit and Run Charge

The charge stems from an incident on Route 495 in June.

Former New England Patriots player Brandon Spikes has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident on Route 495.

The linebacker was in Wrentham District Court Wednesday for the June 7 crash according the Norfolk County D.A.’s office. He pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of personal injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, speeding, and a marked lanes violation.

For leaving the scene of the crash, Spikes will receive one year of probation. The charges negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating an uninsured vehicle were continued without a finding. Both charges that were continued without a finding for one year.

Spikes must also pay $2,000 in fines and court costs and will lose his driver’s license for one year according to CBS Boston.

In June, police received a call for a vehicle that was involved in a hit and run on Route 495 in Foxborough. At the same time, OnStar reported an abandoned Mercedes to state police that was hit by a deer. The Mercedes, registered to Spikes, was found near the vehicle that was hit. No deer was found in the area.

Shortly after the incident, Spikes was cut by the Patriots.
