Four Patriot Place Restaurants Receive Prestigious Wine List Awards from Wine Spectator

Foxborough restaurants honored in Wine Spectator's newly released 2013 Restaurant Wine List Awards.

Four Patriot Place establishments have received national recognition for their respective wine selections by Wine Spectator, the world’s leading authority on wine, and will be included in the publication’s Aug. 31 issue featuring the 2013 Restaurant Wine List Awards.

Patriot Place’s Tastings Wine Bar & Bistro, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse, Tavolino and Skipjack’s Seafood Restaurant were among the 2,870 restaurants globally to receive Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence, which recognizes a wine list offering an interesting and diverse selection of 100 or more wines that are well-presented and thematically match the restaurant’s cuisine in both price and style.

Tastings Wine Bar & Bistro, located at 201 Patriot Place, features a wine list with over 350 selections, 80 of which are available by the glass. The family-owned restaurant pairs its wines with American Haute-Farm cuisine, using fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers, ranchers, fishermen and its own Tower Garden. Tastings has won this prestigious award five years running and in addition, has been voted by over 3 million Open Table users as having one of the Top 50 wine lists in the entire country.

Davio’s, located at 235 Patriot Place, is no stranger to Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence as the northern Italian steakhouse in Foxborough received that same honor in 2011 for its outstanding selection of fine wines.

Skipjack’s, located at 226 Patriot Place, boasts a 25-foot wine wall that features wines from around the world. Skipjack's is one of the longest tenured winners of this prestigious award, having received this honor for the last 26 years. The restaurant’s focus is American boutique wineries.

Tavolino, located at 274 Patriot Place, has been highlighted in the Wine Spectator Restaurant Wine List Awards as having an inexpensive wine list – reasonably-priced bottles at below-normal markup, offering an “uncommon value” for guests. In addition, their list features regional Italian wines that match the Italian dishes on their menu.

Overall, there were 3,793 award winners spanning all 50 U.S. states and 76 other countries and territories, along with 11 cruise ships.

“Everyone at Wine Spectator offers sincere congratulations to all the restaurateurs who have developed such excellent and unique wine programs,” said Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher, Wine Spectator. “We have been giving out these awards for over three decades, and each year we are impressed by the remarkable quality. We applaud the willingness of the restaurants around the world to expand beyond traditional options while still paying homage to the classics.”

The editors of Wine Spectator have been honoring the world’s best wine lists since 1981 and assess each candidate, meticulously inspecting the cellar, service, cuisine and ambiance of the restaurant.

The complete list of award winners is featured in the Aug. 31 issue of Wine Spectator, available now on newsstands. The issue also features a detailed industry analysis and full profiles of this year’s Grand Award winners. All of the restaurants can be found in WineSpectator.com’s Restaurant Search, which allows users to search by location, award level, wine strengths, cuisine type and more.
