Foxboro Woman Gets New Car From Kraft And Community After Fire
A Foxborough mom with three kids lost her car in a fire but has a new set of wheels thanks to the community and Kraft's nonprofit.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — A Foxborough woman who lost her car in a fire got a new set of wheels thanks to the generosity of the community and the Kraft family's nonprofit arm. Last month, Wendy Powell's car caught fire in the parking lot of a local TD bank. Her insurance would only cover a fraction of the cost to replace the vehicle
Powell works as a pharmacy technician at the CVS on Central Street, and like a lot of mothers, works hard to provide for her three children. Not having a vehicle was only going to make things harder for Powell, so her family turned to the community for help.
Powell's daughter set up a GoFundMe page which Kraft's nonprofit the Partners in Patriotism Fund saw. Partners in Patriotism donated $3,000 and said they'd donate an additional $2,000 if the community got the page to the page to its $5,000 goal.

Foxborough had Powell's back, raising the $5,000 for her to buy a new car. Partners in Patriotism matched the total, leaving Powell with $10,000 for a new set of wheels.
"It means everything to have the community and PIP Fund come together to support me and my family," Powell said. "I'm still numb from the kindness of the community and I’m so grateful that everyone was able to help me out."

Representatives of the Partners in Patriotism Fund presented Powell the check at the McGovern Buick GMC in Mansfield on Sept. 6. She used to the money to purchase a 2014 Buick Encore.
"Wendy and her family found themselves in a very difficult situation following the sudden loss of their vehicle," said PIP Fund Grants Committee chairman Jimmy McGowan. "The PIP Fund is pleased to be able to assist the Powell family and doing so in partnership with the Foxborough community to help a neighbor in a time of need is even more meaningful."
