Foxborough Coronavirus: First 4 Cases Confirmed

The four residents are the firsts to test positive for the new coronavirus in Foxborough.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Town officials have announced that four residents have tested positive for the new coronavirus. The four residents are the firsts to test positive for COVID-19 in Foxborough.

Town Manager William Keegan said none of the cases required hospitalization and two of the residents are nearing the end of their fourteen-day isolations.

Prior to Tuesday afternoon, Foxborough had just one potential case, but that case was later confirmed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. State officials later in the day confirmed three more cases in town.

Deputy Fire Chief Tom Kenvin said the increase in numbers is not a surprise as more testing and results are becoming more readily available. Keegan and Kenvin emphasized the significance of the social distancingand good hygiene practices that must be practiced to limit the number of potential cases in the community.

Keegan said he's been doing daily Facebook Live broadcasts from his office to keep residents informed of the impacts to Foxborough. He intends to continue the broadcasts until the health emergency subsides.

Once connected to the site, residents are directed to the Board of Health sub-site for the latest information from the Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
