4G Long Term Evolution network expands to 29 communities Thursday.

Verizon Wireless's Foxborough customers get an incentive to work on the road starting Thursday.

Foxborough is among 29 communities in Verizon Wireless' expansion of its 4G Long Term Evolution network, the telecommunications giant announced Wednesday.

Other area communities involved are: Dover, Sharon, Franklin, Medfield, Norfolk, Plainville, Sherborn, Walpole and Wrentham.

Featuring "speeds up to 10 times faster than before," the service will be available to Verizon Wireless customers with 4G LTE smartphones, tablets, laptop modems and mobile hotspots, the firm said in a press release.

Verizon Wireless spokesman Michael Murphy told Sharon Patch the speeds will "match if not exceed a lot of people's wireless connections."

For that reason, they "don't have to wait to go back to the office" to work, Murphy said.

Verizon Wireless rolled out the network last December, and Boston was "a pre-commercial test site for LTE on the East Coast," he said.

"LTE will always be able to trace its roots back to Eastern Mass.," Murphy said.

The 29 communities join 17 others in the MetroWest area and in Springfield.
