After six weeks of Saturday morning clean-ups and garden preparation, we are finally ready to begin some serious planting! Years of fallen branches have been pulled out of the rhodies, and deadwood cut away.
Roots and vines have been cleared from the steps and bridge, and the pathway widened. We’ve discovered a sunken patio, the valve to Pan’s fountain, and a fairy bridge; pulled hundreds of tiny pine seedlings growing in the garden beds and dug up larger ones.

The garden beds have been turned over, cleared of grass and weeds, and laid out in sections. We have identified some other areas with old plants emerging.
Donations of soil, fertilizer and other materials from local businesses are on hand to help us with this next phase.
We are calling on our family, neighbors and friends in the Garden Clubs and community to join us and bring some perennials to share. This is the perfect time for dividing and transplanting, and we can use many different kinds. Assistance and advice from experienced gardeners will be most welcome.
Although this program is designed as an enrichment activity for the Foxboro Girl Scouts Garden Restoration Project, it is open to the public and any interested community members are welcome to attend. It is tick season, so dress accordingly.
