Massachusetts Fallen Heroes, an organization dedicated to honoring the Fallen, supporting Gold Star Families and empowering Veterans, is pleased to announce its 2017 Boston Marathon team of 23 deserving runners. One team member participating in this year’s Boston Marathon on behalf of Mass Fallen Heroes is Foxborough resident, Hallie Canfield.

18-year-old high school senior, Hallie Canfield is the youngest runner to participate on the Mass Fallen Heroes Boston Marathon team. This past December, Hallie completed her first marathon for St. Jude in Memphis, Tennessee. Honored to be a part of the Mass Fallen Heroes team and support another great cause, Hallie continues to train vigorously, hoping to motivate other young runners in the upcoming years.

“We are thrilled to have Hallie on our team this year and grateful for the efforts she is making to raise the money to help further our mission,” said Dan Magoon, Executive Director of Mass Fallen Heroes. “Every year we look forward to building our teams for each road race we participate in and welcoming the runners into the tight-knit community we have created with past, present and even future runners.”

Although Hallie does not have a personal connection to Mass Fallen Heroes, she is a young philanthropist who sees the importance of giving back. Over the last few months of fundraising, she has been able to educate her friends and family about Mass Fallen Heroes and has raised a significant amount of money for the organization thus far.

“It’s an honor and privilege to be a part of the Boston Marathon and we take pride in creating these experiences for our runners that we hope they take with them for the rest of their lives,” said Magoon.

About Massachusetts Fallen Heroes

Massachusetts Fallen Heroes began in 2010 with the goal of honoring those who sacrificed their lives while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since then, MFH has expanded its mission to provide services and programs that empower returning Veterans, assist their families, and support families of the fallen. This past May, MFH unveiled a public memorial in Boston’s Seaport Common in commemoration of the fallen who fought in the Global War on Terrorism following September 2001. This May, MFH will again honor the sacrifice of Veterans and their families through its annual Patriots Week, a week-long public event held between Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day. MFH remains committed to supporting and uniting local Veterans and their families and raising awareness of their service and sacrifice.
