Man Chased in Mansfield Break-in

A man was chased down Chauncy Street after a local man noticed him allegedly breaking into his car.

Alexander Galanis, 23, of Mansfield was arraigned in Attleboro District Court Thursday and charged with breaking and entering into a vehicle, assault and battery and possession of Class B and Class E drugs.

According to a police report obtained by the Sun Chronicle, the victim said a number of tools were stolen from his truck a couple of weeks ago. Early Thursday morning, he called police after seeing a stranger enter his vehicle while looking out his bedroom window.

The victim went outside, chasing the suspect down Copeland Drive. Galanis was arrested shortly before 2 a.m. He denied breaking into the truck and said he was trying to stop another person from doing so.

Galanis was ordered held on $500 cash bail. He is due back in court on Jan. 25.
