Foxborough Man Pleads Not Guilty In Vehicle Homicide Case

SANDWICH, MA — A Foxborough man pleaded innocent to charges related to a May fatal crash in Sandwich.

James Yeh, 55, was arraigned in Barnstable District Court Wednesday. He faces two counts of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and one count of a crosswalk violation, according to the Cape Cod Times. He is free on personal recognizance.

Police say Yeh struck two pedestrians struck while driving a minivan near Route 6A and Merchant Road on May 22. Both victims were unresponsive upon the arrival of emergency personnel, and CPR was started. Both victims were transported to Cape Cod Hospital and later died from their injuries.

The two victims were identified as 87-year-old Shirley McCarthy and 69-year-old Evelyn Furlong, both of Sandwich.

Yeh allegedly told police that he thought he hit another vehicle and didn't realize it was pedestrians until he looked up and saw the victims.

Yeh is due back in court Feb. 16.
