Ann Morrison Davis

(Foxborough) Ann Morrison Davis, of Foxboro, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 1, 2012. Sundays were always her day; when she brought her love of music to life as a church organist and choir director. She grew up in Pittsfield, Mass., and worked her way through Westminster Choir College where she studied organ with Dr. Alexander McCurdy; and later with the world renowned Thomas Murray. She enjoyed a lifelong career as a Music Director at various churches; including 12 years at Stratford Street United Church in West Roxbury and over 30 years as a substitute at Bethany and St. Mark's churches in Foxboro. She derived great pleasure from her years singing with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus and performing music with her children.

She was extraordinarily committed to providing her children the cultural enrichment she so valued. Ann was a celebrated cook, prolific knitter, talented painter, avid gardner and regular contributor to the spiritual thoughts column of the St. Mark's newsletter. She treasured her time with family, and loved to recount special times from her youth with her beloved grandparents Augustus and Carrie Wareham, of Fall River, Mass.; her parents Inez and Henry Morrison of Pittsfield, Mass.; her sister Carolyn Moors of Bennington, Vt.; brother William Doane Morrison of Byfield, Mass.; husband of 53 years John F. Davis Jr.; sons Mark Davis of Roseburg, OR; Kevin Jobin-Davis of Voorheesville, N.Y.; Jonathan Davis of Arcadia, Calif.; daughter Karen Ferreira of Peabody, Mass.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
