Foxborough Police Aim to Stop Illegal Handicap Parking at Gillette Stadium

Police will be on the lookout for non-handicap people parking in spots reserved for those with disabilities.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — If you think you can borrow a friend's or family member's handicap parking car for your next trip to a Patriots game at Gillette Stadium, think again.

With a new season almost here, the Foxborough Police Department has a renewed effort on stopping the illegal use of the spots on game day. Police Chief Edward O'Leary told The Sun Chronicle that officers will be conducting compliance check and on the look out to see if there if the spot is being used legitimately or by able-body people looking to park closer to the stadium.

O'Leary said the compliance checks are a response to stadium concerns that there is a problem with improper use of the parking cards. At this summer's Coldplay concert, one person used her mother's placard and in a separate incident, a Maine woman used one belonging to the group home she worked for.
