Foxborough Police Chief Announces Retirement

In Chief Baker's resignation letter, he said he's confident in the future leadership of the Foxborough Police Department.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Police Chief William Baker announced his retirement in a letter submitted to the Board of Selectmen Tuesday. Baker, who first became Foxbrough's police chief three years ago plans to retire effective Oct. 7.

Few details were made available on the surprise announcement, but Baker said part of his mission when taking the job in August 2o16 was to leave Foxborough with leaders for the future, the Sun Chronicle reported. In his resignation letter, Baker said he believes the department in in good hands.

“I believe my command staff and I have taken significant steps toward improving the culture, accountability and professionalism of this department,” Baker wrote. “The leadership team is ready to carry on with a clear understanding of where we want to go and how to get there.”

Baker began his law enforcement career in 1974, and had been the police chief of five different towns including Foxborough, Sutton, Southborough, as New Hampshire communities Laconia and Seabrook.
