Foxborough Police Raise $1,000 More For Dana Farber Since Update

The department ended up getting request to mail the patches to other states and even countries including, Australia, Ireland and Spain.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Since the police department announced raising $15,000 for cancer treatment and research from July to October, the department has raised another $1,000. The police department will now be donating at least $16,000 to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute because of their efforts selling pink police patches.

The patches were sold for $10. Officers have sold the pink patches around town for months, including volunteering at tables outside the local Stop & Shop. They could also be bought at the public safety building.

Originally, sales started from word of mouth and grew into Facebook sales and more. According to Detective Jim Morrison, the department ended up getting request to mail the patches to other states and even other countries including, Australia, Ireland, Spain, Iceland, Germany and more.

“Former residents of towns reached out to us asking to mail them, we were like hey no problem," Morrison said.

Morrison told Patch the response has continued to be amazing. Donations will continue throughout November until hopefully the department gets a chance to have a ceremony and give Dana-Farber one of those giant-sized checks.
