Foxborough Police Raise $15,000 For Dana Farber Cancer Institute

Sales reached outside of Foxborough. One patch was even seen at last Sunday's Patriots game in Tennessee.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Like many police departments throughout the state, Foxborough has been taking part in the pink patch project, raising money for cancer treatment and research. The police department has now raised over $15,000 for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and will be donating the money within the next week.

The department has been fundraising since July, but about half the money was raised just in October, Detective Patrick Morrison told the Foxboro Reporter. He said Breast Cancer Awareness Month probably had a large impact on fundraising.

The patches were sold for $10. Officers have sold the pink patches around town for months, including volunteering at tables outside the local Stop & Shop. They could also be bought at the public safety building.

Sales did not just stay in town though. Morrison said the sales reached as far south as Florida. Former residents wanted the patches as well. One patch was even seen at last Sunday's Patriots game in Tennessee.

The patches will remain for sale through the month of November.
