Foxborough Police Rewarding Kids 'Caught' Doing Good Deeds

Foxborough police have partnered with Patriot Place to reward kids for good deeds with treats from Cup Cake Charlie's and Menchie's.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The Foxborough Police Department, in partnership with Patriot Place, launched a new summer program that rewards kids for doing good deeds in the community. The Good Samaritan program started during Patriot Place’s "School’s Out for Summer Celebration" on June 19. Foxborough police officers Frank Azevedo, William Monterroso and Lt. Scott Austin were at the event handing out Foxborough Police-themed temporary tattoos and "You’ve Been Caught" cards.

The program aims to recognize kids doing good deeds in Foxborough throughout the summer. For example, when a police officer sees children wearing their helmets, using a crosswalk, recycling or doing any other good deed, the officer gives that person a reward card. These rewards are good for either a free cupcake up to $3.49 value at Cupcake Charlie’s or a free frozen yogurt up to $5 at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt. The program hopes to encourage good behavior and celebrate kids who are demonstrating "Good Samaritan values," a spokesperson fro Patriot Place said in a statement.

"By being on their best behavior, kids will have a chance to get a reward card," said Patriot Place Marketing Director Diana Griffin. "Cards will be given out around town for the remainder of summer."

Austin said when Patriot Place approached Foxborough Police with the idea for the program, they were immediately onboard.

"We are promoting good behavior and rewarding acts of kindness through our department and the businesses at Patriot Place," said Austin. "It’s something we are happy to be a part of and will be rewards that are sporadic all throughout the summer. We are looking forward to creating strong relationships with the kids in the area."
