Foxborough Ranked as Top Tailgating City

Foxborough Ranked as Top Tailgating City

With the big game just about two weeks away, the official Commissioner of Tailgating, Joe Cahn, has spoken, releasing “The Commish’s Cut,” a list of the top 10 tailgating cities that are home to a professional football team, on behalf of Chef’s Cut Real Jerky, and Foxborough is one of them!

In Joe’s own words,Foxborough is a top contender because “Forget hamburgers and hotdogs, New England fans take their tailgating fare up a notch- with lobster, crabs, and more lobster! Not sure what to wear? Grab some beads, temporary tattoos and your favorite team hat!”

The below is a list created by Joe Cahn, the Commissioner of Tailgating. “The Commish” ranked the best tailgating cities with a professional football team in the United States, using the following criteria:

  • Quality of tailgating food
  • Number of fans participating
  • Common courtesy and a welcoming attitude towards visiting fans
  • Early arrivals to maximize socializing in the parking lot
  • Amount of parking available

1. Houston

I bet you hear “everything is bigger in Texas” a lot, but when it comes to the tailgating scene, it most definitely applies! From the grills, to the parking lot, families and friends are known to gather to support their team both pre and post kickoff.

2. New York

Even though the stadium is in New Jersey, that famous New York City buzz is felt throughout MetLife Stadium when either team is the house. With a plethora of parking, a diversity of food from crowd to crowd, and music echoing down the lots, a NY (fine, NJ!) tailgate is not one to miss. If you can tailgate there, you can tailgate anywhere!

3. Bay Area – San Francisco & Oakland

Whether you’re into beer and tri-tips or wine and sushi, a California tailgate is sure to get any foodie and football lover alike ready for some long passes and exciting touchdowns.

4. Kansas City

What do you get when you mix a friendly crowd, beer, and BBQ? A Kansas City tailgate you don’t want to miss! Not only will you be surrounded by great people, but the aroma of BBQ circulating through the air is a delicious scent that cannot be duplicated. And, just in case one tailgate isn’t enough, there’s a pre-tailgating party before you even enter the lot!

5. New England – Foxborough

Forget hamburgers and hotdogs, New England fans take their tailgating fare up a notch- with lobster, crabs, and more lobster! Not sure what to wear? Grab some beads, temporary tattoos and your favorite team hat!

6. Buffalo

What can I say? The #1 tailgating appetizer is named for Buffalo (buffalo wings). Just like the wings, there are different varieties of tailgating fit for every taste: cars, buses, RVs and limos. All you need to do is pick your flavor!

7. Chicago

Da bears, da brats, and more of da brats. Also, just in case you were wondering, Chicago is that cold – with the stadium set on the lake, be sure to dress warm in the winter!

8. Baltimore

Whether it’s from the streamers blowing in the wind, team clothing or dyed hair, a Baltimore tailgate can be spotted miles away. As Maryland is known for seafood, Baltimore fans get creative with their tailgate cuisine.

9. Denver

Thinking about venturing to the Wild, Wild West to catch a game? Expect lots of meat served with ice-cold beer, friendly fans, and team gear seen for miles.

10. Seattle

Just because there is no official parking lot, doesn’t mean Seattle lacks in a tailgating spirit- these fans take their parties out onto the streets leading to the stadium. Tailgate treats include salmon and other great Pacific Northwest seafood. My best tip, get there early, some fans arrive as early as 4:00 AM to get a prime tailgating spot!
