Foxborough Resident Involved In Fatal Sandwich Crash

Police say a minivan driven by a Foxborough resident struck and killed two people.

SANDWICH, MA — A Foxborough man was behind the wheel of a vehicle involved in a fatal crash in Sandwich, police said.

On Monday, police responded to a report of a two pedestrians struck by a minivan near Route 6A and Merchant Road. The minivan, a 2001 Honda Odyssey, was operated by a 54-year-old Foxborough man.

Both victims were unresponsive upon the arrival of emergency personnel, and CPR was started on the victims. Both victims were transported to Cape Cod Hospital and later died from their injuries.

The two victims have been identified by police as 87-year-old Shirley McCarthy and 69-year-old Evelyn Furlong, both of Sandwich.

The driver's name has not been released because he has not been charged but there is a potential of criminal charges, police said.

The crash remains under police investigation.
