“From the time I started, it seems like going from zero to 60. Right off the bat, it’s a very busy department but I’m impressed with what I’ve seen so far with the personal I’ve interacted with,” he said.

The new fire chief mentioned that he has had the chance to meet many people, with his door open for any of the firefighters to speak with him at any time.

The ceremony was attended by friends and members of Laracy’s past departments.

“I’ve been getting a lot of well wishes and the main theme is to remember the journey but thank those who made it possible and that’s everyone in the audience,” he said before thanking everyone who attended.

The selectmen also wished Laracy the best of luck with his new challenge.

“You’re part of the Stoughton family now and I know you’ll love it. You got a great group of men,” Selectman Robert Cohn said.
